The action began shortly after the track's promo run. It was charted in the top 20 by Release Promo just a day after DJs began receiving the track, and rose steadily after that to number 2. "Placebo Effect" also charted #2 on the Richmond Record Pool's June chart. Shortly thereafter, it showed up in the #1 position on the Balance Record Pool chart for the week ending June 5, 2007
